Technical Areas > Maternal, Newborn, and Child Health
ASH's work has contributed to increased action and support for regional and global commitments around maternal, newborn, and child health (MNCH). ASH has engaged in research to inform policy and practice for MNCH interventions, and provided technical leadership and support to USAID and other development partners for the implementation of global and regional MNCH strategies.
The work of ASH has included activities to strengthen policies and services for HIV-infected pregnant and postpartum women and newborns, examining the policy and scale up of community-based distribution of misoprostol for the prevention and treatment of postpartum hemorrhage, building the technical and managerial capacity of providers and facility managers for delivering antenatal services and reducing malaria among pregnant women, and supporting the African Union's Campaign for Accelerated Reduction in Maternal Mortality in Africa (CARMMA) to translate evidence into action for mothers and children across the continent. |
